Annual servicing, extended services, supply and installation for businesses, schools and managed properties.
Why extinguishers need servicing
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person for any business premises, HMO common area or managed building must make sure fire-fighting equipment is suitable and kept in working order. In practice that means an annual service by a competent technician, in line with BS 5306-3, plus regular visual checks by you or your staff in between.
Insurers and fire officers will ask to see your service records, and an extinguisher that fails when it's needed is the worst possible way to find out it was overdue.
What we do
Annual service. Each extinguisher is checked for pressure, damage, corrosion and correct type for the risk, then tagged with the service date.
Extended service. Water, foam and powder extinguishers need a discharge test every five years, and CO2 extinguishers every ten.
Supply and installation. New extinguishers, wall brackets, stands and fire safety signage, matched to the fire risks on your site.
Replacement and refills. Units that fail, have been used or are past their service life are replaced or recharged.
Records. A service report for your fire safety log, with reminders when the next service is due.
Which extinguishers do you need?
It depends on what could burn. Offices usually need water or foam for general combustibles and CO2 near electrical equipment. Kitchens need a wet chemical extinguisher for cooking oil fires. We'll check your current equipment against your fire risk assessment and tell you if anything is missing or the wrong type.
Combine with PAT testing
Most of our business clients have their extinguishers serviced on the same visit as their PAT testing. One booking, one invoice and one set of records for your insurer. See our business compliance page.
